Revinate Wins Marin Management’s Vendor of the Year Award
In April, 2014, Marin Management, Inc. Founder and President, John Manderfeld, awarded Revinate its Vendor of the Year award at their company’s annual GM’s conference. The award was created by Manderfeld almost a decade ago to publicly recognize the vendor that makes the most positive contribution to Marin Management throughout the year.
The Operations Team selected Revinate as a winner for a number of reasons. First, the undisputable importance of online reviews kept the product top of mind all year as Marin Management worked with the hotels to better understand their online reputation and put processes in place to improve. Sales coordinator, Allen Lagoy, responsible for the ORM program at Marin Management, worked tirelessly with the properties to set goals and educate the team about best practices and industry trends. Using Revinate reports, such as the GS2.0 report and Sentiment Analysis, he was able to speak a common language with the properties to provide guidance and support.
But adopting new processes can be challenging and clearly the success at Marin Management is a result of executive support. Manderfeld believes that online reputation and revenue management are the top two factors in determining the financial success of a hotel. He says, “Whenever we come across an undermanaged hotel, its online reputation is also suffering. With better management, we always see the work pay off with an improved online reputation. There’s a direct correlation. Hotels that want to see greater profits need to focus on their online reputation.”
Another reason for Revinate’s win was positive results at the property level. Each of the thirteen hotels in the portfolio showed improvement over 2013 in online review scores. Allen Lagoy, Marin Management’s point person for online reputation explains, “This year it was critical for us to get the properties to focus on online reviews. We wanted them to see that negative reviews were damaging to the hotel and simply by responding to reviews and reading feedback, the hotels could improve not only their reputations, but also their operations.”
One shining star in Marin Management’s portfolio is the Bay Landing Hotel in Burlingame, California. Year to date, the hotel is up across all critical success metrics such as review frequency, review rating, positive reviews and TripAdvisor Popularity Index.
